Listening Requires Thinking

Nobody listens. That’s one reason why people just respond “Fine” or “Good” when you ask them “How are you?”. We have so many rehearsed answers that we can conjure up in a split second and respond to another person before they’re even done talking. All you have to do is listen for the audible cues and your answer is ready to go.
But LISTENING, well that’s hard.
Below are a couple of quotes about listening that I thought were too good not to share.

If I asked people what they wanted they would have said faster horses.” – Henry Ford

Listening doesn’t mean asking.

…listening to your audience and your target market does not necessarily mean asking them.

If you ask someone what they need, they might not know.

But if you listen carefully to what problems they are having, then you just might figure out what they’d really like to see from you.
