2014 USPS Postage Increase
Here are the postage rates that will go into effect on January 26th, 2014.
Unfortunately, the Postal Regulatory Commission (PRC) approved the entire Exigent rate increase requested by the United States Postal Service (USPS). The PRC’s decision came over a massive effort across the entire industry to oppose the exigency increase. Overall, that means that the 2014 postage rates will increase by approximately 6.0% when compared to the 2013 rates. The 6% increase breaks down as follows: 1.7% tied to the Consumer Price Index (CPI) plus 4.3% Exigent.
Note: The PRC’s decision limits the Exigent increase to two years, requiring the USPS to phase out the increase once it has recaptured the $2.8 billion that the Commission determined that USPS had lost during the 2008-2011 recession.
