Give to the MAX Today!

[vc_row][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_column_text disable_pattern=”true” align=”left” margin_bottom=”0″]Today, November 12th 2015, is the 7th Annual for Give to the MAX Day MN!  The amount of giving in 2014 was recording breaking with 62,607 donors providing 120,664 total gifts that raised $18,316,626.42 and benefited more than 5,544 Minnesota nonprofits.1
What motivated the record breaking donations of Give to the Max Day 2014?  There are volumes of research that offer us insight on why we give. In a study by the Center on Philanthropy at Indiana University, “Understanding Donors’ Motivations,” the five most frequently occurring motivations for philanthropy were listed. They are:[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][mk_image src=”http://www.impactconnects.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/GiveToTheMax.png” image_width=”250″ image_height=”100″ crop=”false” lightbox=”false” frame_style=”simple” target=”_self” caption_location=”inside-image” align=”left” margin_bottom=”10″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text disable_pattern=”true” align=”left” margin_bottom=”0″]

  • To meet critical, basic needs;
  • To give back to society by making the community a better place;
  • A belief that those with more should help those with less;
  • To bring about a desired impact or result; and,
  • A request for money was made.2

Of these motivations the last one is most critical — the ask. “It’s true you can’t force a donor to give, but asking could be the key to unlocking their desire to give.” 3
