USPS Postal Promotion
Starting May 1st and going through the end of June the USPS will give a postal discount for direct mailers who use what they’re calling ‘digital personalization’. The post office requires the sender’s piece to have a URL or barcode that directs the recipient to personalized online content. It’s a good example of what we’ve heard the Postmaster General pushing direct mailers to do.
Here’s the a brief program overview from the USPS:
The 2014 Mail & Digital Personalization Promotion enhances the value of mail by encouraging mailers to use variable data printing (VDP) or other print technology that provides varying levels of mailpiece personalization and customization. Additionally, mailers are encouraged to use personalization through URLs, web pages, or mobile experiences with both messaging and content linked to the mailpiece.
