Senator Thinks USPS Should Lose Exigent Request
Last month the Postal Service announced that it wants to increase postage rates by 5.9% in January. That is 4.3% above the rate of inflation. According to a law that has been in place since 2006, in order to increase postage rates above the rate of inflation, the USPS must file for a Rate Adjustment Due to Extraordinary or Exceptional Circumstance.
Senator Susan Collins, a Republican Senator from Maine who was involved in drafting the 2006 postal legislation, thinks that the USPS should lose their Exigent Request. So do we and we’re continuing to fight. The Exigent Request is not a done deal.
